The theme of Used and Abused is consumption and the photography’s role in it. While words “used” and “abused” are first meant to be applied to objects depicted, the images also question how photography itself is used to fuel consumption. I deliberately abuse different genres of photography in order to reveal the strategies of creation of needs . Those investigations are reflected in three related sub-series: Garbage, Attempts at Repair and Usage Marks.
Forensic photography documents crimes committed and the evidence. In "Attempts at Repair", using similar visual theme, I documented my attempts to repair tools I used in producing images, but eventually failed. The object is literally deconstructed, as an evidence of failure to fullfill the promise of quality and lasting.
